Paint is the most commonly used material to protect steel and in practice the term “paint” covers a wide range of materials with very different properties. Modern resins provide a high level of protection, but only when careful attention has been given to the importance of surface preparation. The correct coating selection and method of application are the main contributing factors for a successful outcome.
